What Is Strength?

What does ‘strong’ mean to you? What does ‘strong’ look like to you? What does ‘strong’ feel like to you? What does ‘strong’ sound like to you? Is ‘strong’ simply a physical attribute based on the amount of muscle someone has?

Where you find strength? Can you see it? Can you touch it? Can you feel it? Can you grasp it? Can you produce it? Can you replicate it?

When and where do you need to be strong? During the offseason when work outs are voluntary? On the practice field? In the locker room? Seconds before kick off? After a call you disagree with? In the huddle? During a tie game? During a long scoring draught?  During a free kick or foul shot?  The fourth quarter? Sudden death? The bus ride home? At home while scrolling through social media?

Do you feel strong? Do you emanate strength? Do you attract strength? Are you drawn to others who you perceive to be strong? Who do you look up to because they are strong?

It’s 5am and you’re the only person in the gym. It’s snowing outside and you’re the only person on the court. The water is 60 degrees and you’re the only person in the pool. It’s pouring rain outside and you’re finishing that last mile. You were told “It won’t be you” but you believe in yourself.

We created this space to celebrate and focus on strength within girls. To help girls find their strength. To help girls develop their strength. To help girls maintain their strength. To help girls remember their strength. To help girls cherish their strength.

Strength comes from within. Find it. Develop it. Maintain it. Cherish it.
